C-ICAP 2024 Edition Revised Version (EN) Released

1. Background of regulation revision

With the rapid development of intelligent and connected technology, users have raised higher demands for the safety, comfort, efficiency, and other performance aspects of intelligent and connected vehicles (ICVs). To maintain the advanced system and industry-leading guidance of the C-ICAP, the (CATARC) actively collaborated with the industry to conduct technical research. This included system construction, industry exchanges, methodology research, test verification, and soliciting feedback. The outcome is the C-ICAP (2024 Edition Revised Version), designed to provide "independent, impartial, and professional" evaluations of the overall performance of intelligent and connected vehicles.

2. Main revisions

Compared to the C-ICAP (2024 Edition), the C-ICAP (2024 Edition Revised Version) includes the following changes:

A. Revision of Management Rules​
(1)Cancel the "4-star +" star rating.
(2)Modify "additional test items" to "audit items", and the enterprise shall provide a third-party test report.
(3)A Urban Assist Systems audit item was added to the Driving Assistance item. In the formal test and assessment, enterprises can choose one of the two audit items: Highway / Interurban Assist Systems and Urban Assist Systems.

B. Urban Assist Systems Details​
The assessment indicators include the Ability of the main road, Ability of Injections, Ability in complex environments, Continuous Operation Ability and Extended Scenario Capability (simulation). In addition, the motion sickness index rating (observation item) was added, which will not be included in the star rating assessment.

The C-ICAP (2024 Edition Revised Version) implemented July 1, 2025.
